Fresh Maize

4.9(214)Fresh todayOrganicHarvested this week

Picked green and still milky, the way it is eaten at home — boiled in the husk over a three-stone fire, or roasted until the kernels blister. Mama Achieng plants two weeks apart so there is always a cob at its sweetest.

    Still smelling of the field

Delivered before eight, husks still cool. Boiled two and roasted the rest. My daughter asked if we had travelled to shagz overnight.

    Sweet, but order early

Sold out by Thursday twice now. When it arrives it is genuinely better than anything at the supermarket.
