Peter goes out at three and is back before the wind gets up. Eighteen years on this water and he still reads it the way his father taught him — by the smell of it more than the look.
His boat, Nyar Nam, carries four. They keep to the legal mesh even in a bad week, because the lake has already been emptied once in his lifetime and he does not intend to watch it happen twice.
Everything is gutted on the beach and iced within the hour. What leaves Dunga at seven is in a Nairobi kitchen by dinner.
