Silas fishes the dark nights, when omena rise to the lamps. Twenty-six years of sleeping in the afternoon and working the water from dusk.
He was among the first at Mbita to move drying off the sand and onto raised racks. It cost money he did not have. It doubled what buyers would pay.
His crew of six splits the catch six ways. He has never seen a reason to change that.
